i have enjoyed duke immensely, but the good chow just can't make up for the lack of anything going on. unfortunately, we didn't come to this country to eat good chow. the main base stands to be full of tedious projects, but there will be more flying and that is always a good thing. i sent a rambling email to wilson after he asked for some points of view over here, you can read it you like, it's a summary of a lot of blogs on this one, but i love to help a friend crush liberal pacifist views with a little dose of reality.
i was very disturbed to see the curse of the bambino lifted yesterday, but man was it an effective curse. i enjoyed it while it lasted. got a letter from dad and matt tonight, thanks much. well this guy behind me is really annoying me and i can't concentrate. i will sign off for now, more later.

if you look on the blog, i vent periodically on the media and how it twists the truth to promote the liberal agenda on an hourly basis. it thoroughly disgusts me to watch CNN and even FOXNEWS. They comment on attacks and they make observations from their posh hotel rooms where a rocket or a bullet into the building scares them and they curse the Multi National Forces for not being able to provide adequate security. I've written this sentence countless times: TERRORISM IS INDEFENSIBLE. You cannot possibly guard every street corner, every powerline, every church, every government building, every road from a terrorist ready to become a suicide bomber. IT IS SIMPLY IMPOSSIBLE, AND IMPLAUSIBLE.
So, do you just succumb to it, roll over, hope it goes away (ie France's attitude). Hell no. You attack it at its source. Americans so easily forget the ire that overcame us when September 11, 2001 occurred. It has only been 3 years now and already we have forgotten what happened to us. 3,000 innocent Americans were slaughtered in cold blood. An attack on our sovereigntry was made. We toppled the Taliban government in Afghanistan, and 2 weeks ago they held their first ever democratic elections in less than 3 years from being a filthy, terroristic, drug producing state. Last year, we overthrew Sadam Hussein, another sponsor of state terrorism, murderer, invader, and seeker of building instability in the middle east and the world. He is in prison. We are planning on holding democratic elections in this country in January. Iraq has become a magnet for terrorist all over the world. My friends and I enjoy making fun of the new Iraqi Tourist Motto: "Come for the sand, stay for the Jihad." The truth is, this place is the lightening rod that keeps the terrorists attention away from the heart of America. I say, let them come here, let them battle us. Better than them battling my girlfriend, my friends, my parents, my family, my state, my country. Unfortunately, the insurgents cannot battle us.
They are too weak to stand up to the power of the Multi-National Forces in this country. So what do they do. They attack innocent civilians who collaborate with the Americans. They attack to destroy the infrastructure of the country, pipelines, powerlines, police stations, government buildings. They kidnap foreigners and cut their heads off and the media has a news frenzy off this to boost their ratings. By showing loved ones pleading for the life of their captured family members, by showing reporters scared to death because a bomb went off near their hotel, they feed the invincibility and aura of the terrorists. They crush Bush every chance they can. Honestly, there are many things we could have done differently and better in this campaign. And maybe Bush will pay with his second term for his mistakes. But, we have the smartest people in the world working for our government and there is no textbook or historical precedence for taking over a dictatorship that ruled by force and murder and replacing it with a democracy.
The honest truth is the terrorist are losing this war, the media makes it seem like they are winning. When they decide to fight like they did in Najaf in August, they were killed by the hundreds. The true number of enemy fatalities will never be known, because they dress as civilians, but their losses are staggering. Each day we learn more about their activities, their hideouts, their funding, their command and control, their houses, their patterns, their routines and we apply kinetic fires with precision application to destroy them while minimizing collateral damage to the innocent civilians whom they use as shields. no other armed force in the world has been posed the dilemna we face here, to root out the bad guys without hurting the friendlies and neutrals they hide behind.
The Soviets would've paved it, the Chinese would've paved it, we won't pave it. We will do everything in our power to prevent innocent people from dying. Case in point: two weeks ago, at 0300 in the morning, I escorted a transport helicopter with one patient from my forward operating base to Baghdad. Bagdad is a high threat area for helicopters. Many helicopters have been shot down in the urban sprawl where terrorists with manpads, can shoot at us with impunity, because we won't see them, and we won't shoot at a target unless we have it in our sights. In Bagdad is the highest level of medical care for medical emergencies. It is where we have to medevac our heroes that get shot at, bombed and mortared every day here trying to create democracy in this place. The twist to the story is that the person was we were transporting was a terrorist we captured for plotting to kill Americans. The terrorist needed an emergency kidney dialysis. The helicopter crews that flew him up to Bagdad for medical care risked their lives so an enemy of our state could be afforded the medical care that our own troops are afforded. This is guaranteed under the Geneva Conventions of War, however, this terrorists is not a uniformed combatant of a recognized state, yet we still try to show compassion for them. don't hear about that kind of stuff on the news do you.
